Our Oral & Maxillofacial Services

At the Arizona Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we provide a range of surgical services:

Wisdom Teeth Management

Third molars, commonly called wisdom teeth, can be problematic when they appear, which usually happens between the ages of 16 to 25. Other teeth may shift and be crowded as wisdom teeth come in, and infections are common with wisdom teeth. Often, the best solution is to remove them. Dr. Loschiavo provides a minimally invasive procedure to extract wisdom teeth that usually leads to a shorter recovery period and less swelling.

Dental Implants

At one time, the only way to replace missing teeth was with bridges and dentures. Today, dental implants provide a superior option for tooth replacement. Dental implants are secured with hardware that functions just like a tooth’s root. Patients do not have to deal with the issues common to denture wearers, like slipping, poor fit, and gum irritation.

Bone Grafting

If you’re looking into dental implants, one of the key considerations is the integrity of your jawbone. When the bone is too weak to support an implant, or in cases where the bone is non-existent, a bone graft can create bone suitable for implants.

Anesthesia

We provide local anesthesia for minor oral surgery, nitrous oxide sedation to help with relaxation, and general anesthesia. Most general anesthesia is via IV sedation, but for some major oral surgeries, intubated general anesthesia is called for.

Stem Cell Enhanced Implantology

Dental stem cells have shown great promise in promoting regeneration of periodontal ligaments lost due to periodontal disease, and in assisting with the generation of biological materials that support implants.

Oral Pathology

This dental specialty deals with the identification and management of diseases that affect the mouth and maxillofacial area. Examples include ulcerations inside the mouth, tonsillitis, strep throat, and herpes simplex virus.

Our Process

At the Arizona Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we follow a specific process designed to provide our patients with the best outcomes.
Step 1:
Consultation
During your initial consultation, Dr. Loschiavo will discuss your imaging results and talk to you about your goals for any procedures. He’ll advise you on what procedures are appropriate for you, and ensure you understand the potential risks and complications. Dr. Loschiavo strives to make sure patients have a complete understanding of their surgery and its goals. If a patient indicates they want to move forward after these discussions, the doctor will then go over the type of anesthesia that will be used, the post-op care, and the antibiotics and pain medication that will be prescribed.
Step 2:
Schedule
Patients work with our surgical coordinator to schedule the surgery. We work collaboratively with each patient to find the best time for their procedure. Our team prioritizes our patients’ needs, and we value your time.
Step 3:
Procedure
On the day of the procedure, our team will guide you through each step of your surgery. You’ll be given complete instructions on how to prepare, and you can rely on us to provide empathetic and highly skilled care.
Step 4:
Post-Op Care
The care you receive from us doesn’t stop after your procedure is done. We’ll follow-up with you to ensure you’re recovering comfortably, whether through phone calls or in-person visits.
